In 1954, the Ligurian Photographic Association decided to organise a festival of short-stroke cinematography, which from 1956 - after having travelled to Cannes to promote the initiative - was to bear the name 'Concorso Internazionale di Cinematografia a Passo Ridotto' (International Short-stroke Cinematography Competition). The festival was organised at Christmas time and, in the Chierici family, as well as within the association, everyone had their own organisational task.
