Amateur filmmaking and narrow gauge cinema are two cinematographic expressions that are often correlated in the post-war period. Narrow gauge films are used a lot in industrial cinema, documentary cinema and any kind of production other than amateur filmmaking. However, in the press of the time, when talking about narrow gauge films, amateur cinema always seems to be meant. However, it should be borne in mind that if amateur cinema is almost always in narrow gauge film, narrow gauge cinema is not necessarily amateur, but is often a cinema made by professionals using mainly 16mm.
