In the 1957 edition of the Montecatini Festival a documentary film shot in eight millimetres 'Piazza Santo Spirito' by Benito Boncompagni won for the first time. The press talked about a scandal. Eight millimetres was not considered a format worthy of making an award-winning film at a festival.
