On 22 April 1948, the newspapers published the final results of the elections: 'Absolute majority of Christian Democrats in the Chamber. DC beat the Popular Front made up of Communists and Socialists with 307 seats to 182. 'The path marked out' is the headline of the Corriere article where words praising freedom spoken the night before in Rome by the great winner of the elections, Alcide De Gasperi, are quoted. Great was the government's sense of relief. Election results day opened with an auspicious event, again in Rome: the marriage of Maria Teresa Buffetti, from the family of the famous office stationery products, to Edgardo Martelli in the church of Sant'Agnese in Agone. The Buffetti brand is at the forefront of this wedding film.
