"It was the colour of the sea and of summer / the road between the houses and the garden walls / where the first time I looked for you". The verses of the poet Camillo Sbarbaro, born in Santa Margherita Ligure, find correspondence in these sequences, full of love and the colour of the sea and summer, shot by Stefano Ranza in the very same places as Sbarbaro on 17 August 1967. If the images of the Varese amateur filmmaker are just as lyrical as the Ligurian poet's verses, the song about a fleeting encounter, stolen from everyday life and not really experienced, is much more poignant and is lost in memory (“The time to think of you; but in the instant / what a sweet thorn pierced me! / Sharp as this you gave me / no other joy, you could not give me. / I loved you. I loved. Even for me in the world / there was someone”). Ranza makes the images 'sing', which instead become an ode to his love for his young wife and new-born first-born daughter. The Ranzas would still have many children who would grow up in front of the camera. Sbarbaro died in the autumn of that year, 1967.
