Thanks to Mario Cessi for this immersive experience in 9.5mm. Taking the funicular up Vesuvius is not something one does every day. But on 11 October 1929 it is possible. The film of the excursion is divided into three parts: the ascent, the walk to the top around the cone of the smoking volcano, and the descent. The eruption a few months earlier, in June of the same year, did not affect the Funiculare Vesuviana. In operation since the late 19th century, it was for a long time the only cable car in the world operating on an active volcano. It was decommissioned following the 1944 eruption. Have a good trip then, that this excursion is an unrepeatable experience.
