Fitz Roy or Chaltén, 'smoking mountain', the original name of the natives, is located between Argentina and Chile. A mythical peak, among the most coveted by mountaineers and difficult to reach. And it is the destination of a group of Italian mountaineers, including Carlo Barbolini, who open a new route to the summit, the culmination of an expedition that started from Milan at the end of November the year before. The north-west ridge is reached on the afternoon of 17 January, on the fifth day of climbing. The incredible views from up there and the excited faces of the climbers open up to our eyes, thanks to 16mm expedition footage.
