The Christian family is inclusive, no one should feel left out. And Fr Cyril Vitalini understood that the camera is a powerful tool to strengthen the sense of belonging to the community. This passes through the recognition of each person and the interpersonal relationship that the camera itself fosters: banally, the mechanism of the family film is based on the simple exchange of glances between the person filming and the person being filmed. And for a priest, the family is always extended. So on 18 December 1961, as he would do many other times, Fr Cirillo dedicated very short portraits to his family, to the people he met, engaged in their daily and work activities. Children, adults, the elderly all find a moment and a smile for him. And for us who collect this precious filmic heritage of Valtellina, a small mountain world opens up to our eyes. Where the Christian family is not just the magazine cover that is framed at the end of the 8mm film sequence.
