We can state without fear of being easily contradicted that Christmas lunch in the Calanchi household, filmed on 25 December 1960, is a great classic and a pinnacle of family cinema. Corrado Calanchi's staging is almost perfect. The actors enter the scene one after the other, introducing themselves to the audience, stepping into their respective roles and taking their assigned place at the table. First enter the filmmaker's children, the young Cristina and Stefano, then his brother Franco, his wife Maria, his sister Luisa, their father Antonio, their mother Anna, and Corrado himself, host and filmmaker. Finally it is the turn of his wife Maria, who enters the room with steaming tortellini and serves them on the table, starting the first act of the Christmas meal. When she enters, the film has already begun, but the show within the show of lunch begins now. Chapeau to Corrado and the entire family company of Christmas in the Calanchi house.
