It is not only through magazines that public attention is focused on amateur film festivals, but for the most important of these festivals there is also media attention through newsreel reports usually screened before the film being shown in the cinema. These reports are a very important source because they also tell us a lot about what does not emerge from the press. One example is the documentation of the presence of several female filmmakers in the activities of the Montecatini festivals of the time. However, a slightly ironic tone persists in the way these authors are portrayed, almost as if they were grown-up children who still wanted to play with these technological devices.
