Jennifer Malvezzi explores here the issue of the production and circulation of copies of films produced by Italian artists and experimenters. Using the example of "Silent invasion" by Valentina Berardinone and some of De Filippi's films, Malvezzi illustrates the motivations behind the reproduction of copies of an original film shot in colour but transferred to black and white copies. The circulation of copies reproduced in a different aspect ratio from the original thus also determined the affirmation of a public vision that differed from the way in which the film had been conceived in the original; in several cases the massive circulation of the black and white film determined the unrecognition, by the authors themselves, of the original coloured film.
