Giulia Simi discusses how, in studying the women's cinema, new names of previously unknown female artists and filmmakers continue to emerge. In fact, the study of the female figure in cinema was for a long time closely linked to those filmmakers and film promoters connected to the so-called 'official' experimental scene (the one, for example, linked to the world of the Cooperative of Independent Cinema of Rome). However, more specific research uncovers new female practices and experiences that enrich the panorama and give complexity to the role of women within experimental and amateur practices.
