Closely linked to the artist's coeval plastic and graphic research, Valentina Berardinone's Urbana (1973, b/w, Super8), like her other films of the same period, focuses on the image of the staircase as a 'device' of power. In Urbana, the staircase throws up implacably and neatly the ghost-men crushed by the city's routine.
